The story of Cape Town Hollow Hotel dates back to 1995 when Jack Brotherton (founder of the Hollow Hotels) opened the doors of Hippo Hollow Hotel on the banks of the Sabie River in Hazyview. After this hotel proved to be a great success, Jack went on to his next hotel venture and opened Knysna Hollow in 1998.

A few years later, Jack spread the Hollow Hotel wings and branched out into Cape Town, opening Cape Town Hollow Hotels doors onto Queen Victoria Street as a four-star establishment in 2003. The Hotel has become a welcome part of the neighborhood ever since. It is just a stones throw from The Company Gardens, the oldest garden in the country and an extension of Jan van Riebeeck's veggie supply for his 17th century colony. The ±40 year old building was Initially rented from a Mr Shirlock, until 2011 when he passed away, and Jack and his business partners bought the building.

The elegant en suite rooms at Hollow Boutique are equipped with a satellite TV, a direct dial telephone, tea-and-coffee making facilities, an international adapter and a safety deposit box. The bathrooms are fitted with a walk-in shower and toiletries and a hairdryer are provided. Most of the rooms have a Juliette balcony.

A full English buffet-style breakfast is served in the morning. Cape Town Hollow’s restaurant Eighty-Ate offers indoor or outdoor dining options. The cuisine ranges from light bites, comfort food through to more specialised dishes, accompanied by local wines and craft beers.

Other facilities and services offered, include a Conference and Business Lounge, laundry services, tours and airport transfers. A free shuttle to and from the V&A Waterfront is available at specific times. Parking can be arranged for a surcharge at the hotel's neighbour, approximately 50 meters away and Stop-Go is available for vehicles at the front of the hotel for dropping off luggage.
